Moving to excellence

We recognise and value the role of further education (FE) providers in improving educational standards. That's why we're helping colleges to respond to the challenges of a changing sector.

Working in close partnership, we're helping colleges to set themselves apart from their competitors, become more efficient and be increasingly responsive to customer demand.

Our support around professional development of college staff, optimisation of funding, improving performance and efficiency, embracing new technologies, and communicating with key stakeholders is helping colleges to continually improve and raise standards.

We also design and build the colleges of the future.

Continuing professional development

In response to Government targets for raising skills across the UK, we have developed a range of comprehensive training solutions to develop and enhance the skills required across the FE sector.

Our range of training services includes software and technology for managing training requirements, in-house programmes, distance and e-learning, and support to help better manage government-funded training courses.

Tribal's consultants and trainers have extensive sector expertise. Our personalised, high-quality and value for money solutions help deliver real results and assist college staff to meet the required 30 hours of continuing professional development each year.

Consultancy

Tribal's consultancy services help improve organisational effectiveness and quality. We have an established track record of working in the FE sector and work with over 90 per cent of all colleges.

We work with colleges to improve management information systems, finance, curriculum, human resources, data management and bespoke projects.

We also support colleges with policy and strategic planning and funding challenges so that they can adopt the Framework for Excellence and respond to the 14-19 strategy.

Benchmarking

As educational funding changes to a demand led model, funding methodology places a premium on learner success. Colleges need to be more responsive, while continuing to raise standards and deliver a financially efficient operation.

Tribal has developed new tools to analyse performance, enable its optimisation and meet the challenges of the new funding system. Our benchmarking services, whether to a single support function or an entire college, enable colleges to compare their resources and performance with others.

We provide 250 additional comparators to help colleges keep ahead of the field and have recently developed a benchmarking model which enables us to produce comparisons of success rates and associated costs.

Management information systems

With ambitious skills targets and changes to funding methodologies now in place, an effective management information system is increasingly important for meeting the challenges facing the post 16 education sector. Our market leading, web-based management information systems enable education and training providers to manage the entire student lifecycle from course marketing to timetables and examinations.

Our ebs4 solution is used by more than 150 colleges and learning providers. ebs4 is a web-based solution and its flexible, modular structure enables our clients to tailor the system to their specific needs, as well as providing for future growth.

Maytas is our fully customisable solution for managing colleges’ work-based learner requirements with an emphasis on measuring competency and the production of individual learning plans.

We are also the market leading supplier to the Scottish FE sector with our world-class SITS:Vision student and course management solution.
IT, software and technology services

We are a leading provider of IT, software and technology services to colleges and work in partnership with our clients to help them plan and implement solutions to meet their individual needs.

We provide the full spectrum of solutions, from software applications through to consultancy skills and expertise in IT, and specialise in web based portal projects.

We work with the latest Microsoft technologies to deliver online collaborative portals, information management solutions, learning management systems and custom built applications.

We work with colleges to help them maximise their existing investment in IT or use new technologies to deliver learning. The IT services that we offer include business continuity, database administration, systems and application management, and IT-specific consultancy.

Learning and skills

We offer learning programmes across a range of vocational areas and more than 300,000 learners have used our materials since 2001. Our e-learning products are market leaders in the UK and we remain at the forefront of innovation in software and systems development.

Our leading Target Skills product suite is the UK's best selling suite of ICT-based Skills for Life materials and is used by more than 75 per cent of  the UK’s FE colleges and has been designed specifically for adults with basic skills needs.

The built environment

We offer colleges a range of architectural, property consultancy and asset management solutions. We work with education providers to envision, design and plan buildings which inspire and deliver learning. We now manage more than £400 million of capital projects

Recruitment, resourcing and interim management

The attraction and retention of high quality staff poses many challenges. In a constantly changing sector, any disruption to staffing could pose a critical risk to the functioning of a college.

We offer a range of solutions from executive resourcing through to recruitment support to minimise disruption to services and the learner experience.

Our interim support covers the recruitment of executive appointments through to providing specialist managers for covering requirements around management information systems, curriculum management and HR.
