Tribal, the leading international education technology and services company, has announced new expansion and employment opportunities at its Sheffield location, following the company’s success in winning a multi-million pound contract overseas.
The contract with the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) in New South Wales, Australia, one of the largest education authorities in the world, combines Tribal and SAP software to create a state wide project to reform its student management systems.
The contract, which is in excess of AUS $40 million, has already brought 25 new full-time positions in software development to Tribal’s Sheffield base on St Mary’s Road. A further 15 positions are actively being recruited. Tribal has already mobilised teams into contract delivery, with software development taking place primarily in the UK, and configuration and implementation in Sydney.
To support this exciting new project, Tribal is investing deeply by expanding and improving its Sheffield location. It has recently taken on additional space at the Cube on St Mary’s Road, as well as kicking off a £300,000 refurbishment programme at its St Mary’s Court location.
Clive Ansell, Chief Executive Officer of Tribal’s Technology business added: “Our Sheffield-based software teams are vital to the delivery of the DEC contract. We are investing in both the location and working environment to ensure we attract and retain the quality of people required for our most exciting challenge yet”.
Sheffield City Council’s Chief Executive John Mothersole said: “This is great news for Sheffield and its economy. Enterprise like this helps the city grow and drives our economy forward.”
He continued: “The Council’s role is to ensure that it has strong and supportive relationships with the business community, so that firms feel encouraged to make long-term investments in the city, and new investors see Sheffield as an exciting place to do business.
“We will be offering Tribal our support and hope their expansion into Sheffield will kick-start similar investment by other companies.”
The contract builds upon a successful period for Tribal, during which it has won other major contracts in Australia and New Zealand. Tribal is now firmly established as a significant international player, and the Sheffield teams are playing an active role in the implementation of these contracts.
