The management of medical records has always been a challenge for the health sector. The numbers of files and physical records continue to grow, increasing pressure on space and rising storage costs.

Many health organisations have begun storing their medical record libraries at off-site facilities which is often expensive and provides only a short-term solution.

Transition to electronic document management (EDM) is a major change and one that requires in-depth planning, change management and large-scale investment.

FileFast offers an easy introduction to EDM for health providers and is currently used in libraries across the NHS.

It is a library management system that uses barcode scanning, electronic picking and elective filing, (the storing of medical records in any location within the library). This combination dramatically reduces put-away time and eliminates the problem of file ‘shuffling’.

Benefits of using FileFast include:

  • trace records anytime, day or night
  • minimise administrative time required to locate case notes
  • improve flow of information through trusts
  • request urgent files to support busy medical departments
  • eliminate misplaced files
  • seamlessly integrate with trusts’ patient administration systems.

FileFast is helping our clients to become more efficient by reducing patient waiting times and providing significant savings. It also addresses key issues such as limited space and misplaced files.

I was initially quite sceptical because this was the first elective file system the trust had ever had, but my fears were unfounded. The service we received from Tribal has been second to none.
