St Mary’s University selects Tribal as its student management system provider

Tribal is delighted to welcome the prestigious St Mary’s University Twickenham, London to the growing Tribal customer base.

St Mary’s is a university with a friendly, inclusive and intellectually rigorous learning community which seeks to empower all that walk through its doors. With a mission statement that so closely matches Tribal’s own (to Empower the World of Education), Tribal was an excellent fit for St Mary’s.

Developing and investing in growth plans

St Mary’s has gone from just six students at its establishment in 1850, to now around 6,000 (citing Sir Mo Farah and ‘The Body Coach’ Joe Wicks as well-known alumni). But they don’t intend to stop there. With impressive growth plans the University identified a need to review it’s use of technology and systems architecture to maximise the effective use of data.

Home to the leading student management system in the UK, Tribal was thrilled to be invited into the competitive process. The University embarked on a diligent procurement process via the APUC framework which included fact finding, finalising product specification, implementation planning and scoping of detailed project deliverables, resulting in a five-year contract being awarded for Tribal’s SITS:Vision student management system.

In safe hands

The University’s reputation of excellence in education, heritage and cultural vibrance is unrivalled.  With this, they required a system that provided them with rich functionality and solid confidence in the people behind the system.

Tribal’s Managing Director for Higher Education, Jon Baldwin, said “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome such a fine Higher Education establishment to the Tribal SITS:Vision family. St Mary’s has a clear mission and we are excited that Tribal and SITS:Vision are seen as integral to the achievement of that mission.”

Student Satisfaction at its heart

One of the many reasons for selecting the SITS:Vision student management system was due to the system’s attention to the student experience. For a second consecutive year, St Mary’s has made progress in the Good University Guide with its focus on student satisfaction scores and performance in the league tables. As part of the University’s vision and mission for 2025, the University aims to build on their high level of student satisfaction to be the most welcoming learning community in the UK, whilst still climbing the national university league tables.

St Mary’s University Project Manager, Deborah Tydings, said “It was evident to us during the procurement process that Tribal’s SITS:Vision student management system will provide us with the functionality we need to ensure that the University reaches its 2025 goals. From recruitment strategies to alumni, and beyond, SITS:Vision will be at the core of everything the University does, so it was imperative that we made the right decision.”

Work to implement the on-premise solution has already begun.
