Edith Cowan University Becomes First Customer to Implement Tribal's Admissions Solution

Posted by Tribal Group

Western Australia, August 15, 2023 - Tribal Group, a renowned global provider of education management software and services, is pleased to announce that Edith Cowan University (ECU) has successfully implemented Tribal Admissions, a cloud-based SaaS solution designed to optimise the university admissions process.

ECU, a distinguished member and one of the 9 universities in the Callista Group, proudly becomes the first customer, globally, to adopt the Tribal Admissions solution. This landmark achievement establishes ECU as the pioneer user from the Asia Pacific region that uses Tribal's fully integrated standalone admissions solution.

With an enrolment of over 30,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students across three campuses in Western Australia, ECU's mission is centered on transforming lives and enriching society. The university is committed to setting the standard in educational experiences, impactful research, and positive contributions to both industry and the community. ECU has been a valued Tribal customer since 2004, utilising Tribal's student management system, Callista, and more recently Tribal Submissions, a sector-leading statutory reporting solution to safely, securely, and efficiently automate submissions to the Government’s TCSI portal.

Given the annual influx of over 60,000 admission applications, ECU recognised the need for a more efficient admissions process. Their objective was to find a solution that could provide automation and streamline workflows to aid decision-making and reduce manual efforts and errors.

Peter Corbett acknowledged that transitioning to a new student management system would result in significant disruption and entail substantial financial and human investments that could set the university's strategy back years. It would also require unsustainable levels of new staffing, onboarding, and expertise. To avoid a potential multi-year implementation period before seeing results, ECU wanted a modular solution that would work better for their team from a strategic and financial standpoint. With their longstanding partnership with Tribal, ECU confidently chose to adopt Tribal's modular solutions as the most suitable option.

Building on that trusted relationship, ECU took an active role in Tribal's Early Adopter Program for Tribal Admissions, becoming one of the customers to apply the new SaaS-based solution with their own data, staff, and students, within their own technology ecosystem. Throughout a vastly condensed 18-month program, ECU’s team worked intimately with the dedicated guidance and support from Tribal's professional services team. The highly collaborative approach, and clarity of strategy, ultimately harnessed the expertise of Tribal and ECU staff to eliminate the need to invest any additional resource funding.

Peter Corbett, Director of Student Administration at ECU, shared,

"We are delighted to be at the forefront of adopting the cutting-edge Tribal Admissions solution, marking a significant milestone for our institution. While fully aware that the transition pathway to Tribal Edge Admissions might entail a lengthier process, through leveraging our existing resources and without any supplementary financial commitment, we have accomplished a remarkable success in a span of only 18 months. ECU’s immediate objective is to initiate a pilot program with a select cohort, ultimately working towards the goal of transitioning all domestic and international admissions to the Tribal Admissions platform.”

Tribal Admissions empowers ECU with a connected and efficient experience for both students and staff within the university, leveraging the industry-leading cloud infrastructure of Microsoft Azure. By integrating Tribal Admissions, ECU has streamlined its admissions process, ensuring a seamless experience for all stakeholders. Noteworthy features of the solution include an automated workflow tool dedicated to supporting admissions, a modernised and highly specialised document management system, task assignment capabilities for applicants, and the Tribal Connector that enables integration with popular platforms like Microsoft Teams and Salesforce.

Peter Corbett, Director of Student Administration at ECU, remarked,

""Having partnered with Tribal for many years, we had confidence in our ability to succeed. I've always had trust in Tribal's delivery and their commitment to making this project a success. From the top down, the CEO and every member of the Tribal team involved in the project have demonstrated their unwavering dedication to supporting ECU."

Mark Pickett, CEO of Tribal, expressed delight at the achievement, stating,

"We are delighted to announce that Edith Cowan University has become the first global customer to successfully implement Tribal Admissions, our cloud-based SaaS solution for university admissions. The strong partnership between ECU and Tribal has been significant since 2004 when ECU first became a Callista customer. We greatly appreciate ECU's continued confidence in our technology, and we are excited to reach this new milestone. This achievement places us in good stead for future collaborations with ECU."
