Empowering Staff, Learners and Volunteers at English Language Partners New Zealand (ELPNZ)

Posted by Admin

Overview

English Language Partners New Zealand (ELPNZ) is one of New Zealand's leading providers of English language education and settlement support services for adult refugees and migrants. Through a nationwide network of centres, dedicated staff, and a large volunteer community, ELPNZ helps learners develop the language skills and confidence needed to participate fully in life, work, and their communities.

Supporting thousands of learners each year requires accurate information, effective programme management, and strong reporting capabilities. To help achieve these goals, ELPNZ partnered with Tribal to modernise its student management environment and create a stronger foundation for future growth.

The Challenge

As ELPNZ continued to expand its services and reporting requirements evolved, the organisation recognised the need for a more modern, scalable approach to managing learner information and programme delivery.

The organisation wanted to:

  • Streamline administrative processes across its nationwide network.
  • Improve access to accurate and timely information.
  • Enhance reporting capabilities for funding and compliance requirements.
  • Reduce manual processes and duplicated effort.
  • Support greater collaboration between staff, centres, and volunteers.
  • Gain deeper insights into learner engagement and outcomes.

ELPNZ also wanted a technology partner that understood its unique operating model and could support its long-term goals.

The Solution

After reviewing the market, ELPNZ selected Tribal's EBS student management platform to support the organisation's evolving needs.

Working together, ELPNZ and Tribal implemented a modern, cloud-based student management environment designed to support the full learner journey, from initial engagement through to programme participation and achievement.

The solution provides a single source of truth for learner information, helping staff manage programmes more effectively while improving the consistency, accuracy, and accessibility of data across the organisation.

Beyond the technology itself, Tribal worked closely with ELPNZ throughout the implementation, helping ensure the solution aligned with the organisation's processes, reporting requirements, and long-term vision.

The Results

  • Improved operational efficiency

By digitising and streamlining key processes, ELPNZ reduced manual administration and improved the consistency of information across its national network.

  • Better visibility and reporting

Access to accurate, timely data enables ELPNZ to meet reporting requirements more effectively while gaining deeper insights into programme participation and learner outcomes.

  • Empowered staff and volunteers

A more accessible and connected system supports staff and, over time, broader participation across the organisation, helping teams focus more of their time on supporting learners.

  • Enhanced learner support

With better information available across the organisation, ELPNZ is better equipped to deliver responsive, learner-centred services that help refugees and migrants achieve their goals.

  • A strong foundation for growth

The modern platform provides the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and supports ELPNZ's ongoing commitment to delivering positive outcomes for learners and communities throughout New Zealand.

“The project has been a great success for ELP. As well as implementing a modern new system, we took the opportunity to change some key business processes and to eliminate manual operations. This project has been at the core of a substantial period of change for approximately 300 staff. As a small dedicated project team, the relationship we had with Tribal was a significant contributor to the success of our project. Tribal were very customer focused, always quick to respond, understood our unique requirements and provided solutions that would work best for our business. We are excited about our new system and the positive impact we are now realising across our business.”
