The ‘push and pull of data’ at Arts University Bournemouth

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) is a leading specialist UK university offering high quality specialist education in art, design, media and performance across the creative industries.
AUB recently purchased a third-party software platform and needed it to integrate with their student information system, SITS:Vision. With a tight data and reporting strategy, the forward-thinking university wanted to be able to keep all of their data in one place, despite having a new third-party system. Essentially, it needed to be able to pull information from one system, into another, and then back again.
The team at AUB considered building the integration programme themselves but soon realised that this would have put a strain on their resources and worryingly, wouldn’t have been supported if something went wrong. Instead, they chose to use Tribal’s Stu-talk tool. Stu-talk allows multiple systems to essentially ‘speak’ to each other and help data to work side by side. This means that despite multiple systems, there is still only one set of data and one version of the truth.
Nikki Wilson, Head of MIS at AUB said
“Using Stu-Talk to manage the two-way integration of data between the systems will ensure data consistency and allow us to maintain SITS as our single source of truth. We like the fact that all the interfaces will be maintained and tracked from within the SITS platform, this will undoubtedly save us time and effort on the support front.”
